Abstract: The paper pinpoints the development and functioning problems of the vocational education system in conditions of a small town. Having conducted the sociological study the authors point out the changes in efficiency and functions of the secondary vocational education. In addition, the article outlines the prospects and gives recommendations on reforming the existing vocational education system in small towns.
