Major Imbalances in Financial Flows in Regional Territorial Systems

Abstract:

The paper deals with a theoretical-methodological approach to the formation of regional matrix of financial flows between the sector of financial corporations (credit institutions, insurance companies, public and private pension funds, management investment companies) and other institutional sectors (non-financial corporations, households, government authorities, foreign investment institutions) tak‑ ing into account the reproduction process and the basic principles of the System of National Accounts. The article presents the structure and sources of primary incomes, final consumption, and gross savings of the financial sector of the regional territorial systems as well as the conversion of these savings into investments. The matrix formed allowed identifying disproportions in financial flows between the in‑ stitutional sectors in the regions of the Ural Federal District, as well as the trends in the financial sector development, which had a negative impact on the financial sustainability of these territorial systems
