Fuzzy Model for Examining the Implicit Influence of Russia’s Defenсe Complex on the National Economy

Authors: Dmitry M. Nazarov and Dmitry A. Azarov

Abstract:

The paper deals with the problem of modelling Russia’s defence complex as a subsystem of the national economic system so as to identify its main characteristics, regularities of development, and peculiarities of its impact on the national economy to find solutions to management problems and prepare forecasts for its evolution. The authors suggest their own treatment of the concept “defence complex” as a subsystem of the national economy, and specify its aim, establish key components of external environment and essential elements and classes of this subsystem. On the basis of E. Goldratt’s theory of constraints, the authors analyze Russian defence complex and identify a constraint for the subsystem. The article puts forward the idea to take into consideration the implicit channels of extending the economic influence on the national economy in order to enhance the quality of economic modelling of the defence complex. Within the application of the model for assessing the impact of implicit factors, main sources of impact and interim measurable indicators of influence on Russia’s economy are determined. Having applied the fuzzy set approach, the method of hierarchy analysis and theory of fuzzy relations the paper describes the methodology for taking into account the latent impact of Russia’s defence complex on the national economy.
