A Methodological Approach to Assessment of Financial Risks of an Organization

Abstract:

Business activities are associated with financial risks, the management of which is considered obligatory to maintain sustainable and efficient functioning of an organization. Under or overestimation of financial risks can lead to financial losses, that is why the quality of financial risk assessment directly influences the success of an organization’s risk management. The article presents the author’s treatment of the concept “financial risk”; the grouping of financial operations by the sphere of risks; the author’s approach to the financial risk assessment, which encompasses two consecutive stages (calculation of damage and probability of its emergence after identification of a risk event; monitoring and revaluation of financial risks as well as the calculation of their residual value); methods of qualitative and quantitative assessment of financial risks; scenario analysis of financial risk assessment.
