Transparency of Russian Banks: Problems of Evaluation and Improvement

Abstract:

The article examines the transparency issues in the Russian banking sector. Existing tools for evaluating transparency of the Russian banks are analyzed allowing for the sector specifics. The article presents the author’s methodology for assessing the transparency of Russian banks tested on business entities. The methodology sets the blocks of criteria for evaluating the transparency of companies in the banking sector with regard to the information disclosure. The banks are grouped on the basis of the identified factors of transparency, and each group is studied against the list of individually selected criteria to assess the level of information disclosure.
