Evaluation and Comparative Characterization of the Processes of Information Technologies Penetration in Regional Economies

Abstract: The subject of the study is organizational-economic relationships emerging in the process of information technologies penetration in a region. The work aims to study the dynamics of the processes of information technologies penetration in particular regions of the Russian Federation and find out about the potential for growth. Economic-mathematical and statistical methods are used. The authors present a typology of RF regions by different evaluation criteria and carry out clusterization of the types of economic activities of Samara oblast in terms of the potential for boosting the level of information technologies penetration in Russian regions. The results of the conducted study allow not only for a more objective evaluation of the dynamics of the processes of information technologies penetration in regions but also for a substantial improvement of the quality of development prospects justification taking into account the detected trends and existing potential for growth. The findings of the research may provide a basis for managerial decision-making concerning information technologies penetration in the region.
