The Role of Social Partnership in Solving the Environmental Problems of the Sverdlovsk Oblast

Abstract: Sverdlovsk oblast is among the most environmentally unfriendly regions of Russia what results in extra attention paid by public authorities and local community to the enterprises’ activities in the field of environment protection. The paper examines the experience of interaction between public authorities and local government with economic entities and public organizations to settle environmental problems and preserve natural complexes. Currently this experience has evolved into the form of social partnership between the Government of the oblast and the largest enterprises in the region negatively affecting the environment.
