The Imperatives of the Foreign Economic Policy of Russia. The XX Century

Abstract: The article considers the system of regulation of foreign economic relations during the periods of industrial revolution and socialism construction. The expansion of trade and economic relations, the inflow of foreign investment into the domestic economy were equally important for handling the ambitious tasks of the country’s development. Protectionist models of regulation were used. In the Empire it was “comprehensive” protectionism, the USSR implemented “deaf” protectionism. Each model was tied up with the strategy of foreign economic interactions.
