Abstract: One of the challenges modern Russian scientific literature faces is the lack of the correct understanding of what is meant by one or another foreign term. This is due to the so-called “translation difficulties” when the same concept can be translated differently. The article deals with the definition of the concept “reverse logistics” and the role of this type of logistics in the supply chain management.

Key words: reverse logistics; merchandise return; recycling.
