Abstract: The paper analyzes the peculiarities of the formation of regional identity of the Urals population in the late ХIХ – early XX centuries. The study is based primarily on historical sources, in particular, newspapers and regional literature of the late ХIХ – early XX centuries are used. Special attention is paid to the phenomenon of “oblastnichestvo” (Urals regionalism).
