Abstract:

Now the research of peripheral areas is fraught with considerable difficulties. The main reason for this is lack of official statistical information characterizing some aspects of their socio-economic development. One of the ways to improve information support of research on the peripheral areas is to use available statistical data to introduce new statistical indicators, though some of them may require collection of additional primary data. Information-analytical systems are another way to improve the accessibility of statistical information for government authorities and citizens. The analysis of the existing information-analytical systems at regional and federal level revealed their drawbacks connected with technical imperfections and incorrect loading of indicators. Thus, the elimination of technical problems, raising requirements to the timely upload of indicators represent another direction for improvement of information support of the research of peripheral areas.
