Green Technologies in Logistics

Abstract:

The article deals with the institutional aspects of implementing the principles of sustainable development in business practice worldwide, in the European Union and Russia. It discusses the essence of green logistics and analyzes green technologies in production and logistics that allow reducing the harmful effect on the environment. The paper stresses the necessity to utilize green technologies at all stages of product life cycle and supply chain: product concept and design, extraction and transportation of raw materials, production, delivery and consumption of goods, and waste disposal. Matrix approach is suggested to classify the green technologies in logistics. The paper lists the examples of international companies, successfully incorporating the principles of sustainable development, particularly, it systematizes green technologies used in Heineken, and gives the indicators of the company efficient work in the sphere of environmental protection.
