Comparative Analysis of Retail Clusters on a Local Consumer Market of Largest City

Abstract:

The article looks at the agglomeration effect on consumer market of a metropolitan area. It gives the characteristics of retail clusters used in the Strategic Development Plan for the Municipality “The City of Yekaterinburg”. The paper studies the development of the consumer market of goods and services according to the key development indicators of the sector: the number of enterprises, sufficiency with retail space, retail turnover and catering companies’ turnover. It presents the passport of the conducted research on the level of consumer satisfaction among Yekaterinburg’s residents with the work of retailers, catering and services companies within the retail clusters on the local consumer market. The authors describe positive and negative sides of the companies’ operation on the consumer market within the studied retail clusters. The paper lists recommendations on the improvement of development strategy for the local consumer market.
